Guam – February 2025 – Pacific UAV Corp., doing business as 2cofly, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Northern Marianas Technical Institute (NM Tech) to introduce FAA Part 107 drone certification training and advanced drone specialization programs in CNMI.

This initiative is a major step toward professionalizing drone operations in the region, as the FAA Part 107 certification is the legal requirement for operating drones commercially in the United States. Obtaining this certification allows individuals to work as licensed drone pilots, opening up new career opportunities in industries such as construction, environmental monitoring, public safety, real estate, agriculture, and more. By making this training accessible in CNMI, 2cofly and NM Tech are empowering local students and professionals with the qualifications needed to enter this fast-growing industry.

Under this collaboration, 2cofly, a leader in drone technology and training in Micronesia, will provide NM Tech students with access to expert-led drone certification courses, preparing them to become FAA-certified remote pilots. In addition to FAA Part 107 training, the program will offer advanced specialization courses, including aerial surveying, mapping, thermal imaging, LiDAR applications, and data processing—skills that are in high demand in industries such as construction, environmental research, agriculture, infrastructure inspection, and public safety.

Empowering CNMI’s Workforce Through Drone Technology

Drones are transforming the way industries operate by offering cost-effective, efficient, and high-precision data collection methods. With this training initiative, NM Tech and 2cofly are committed to preparing CNMI’s workforce for the fast-growing drone economy, equipping them with practical skills that can be applied in real-world job settings.

“This partnership is a game-changer for CNMI,” said Charlie Hermosa, CEO of 2cofly. “Drones are no longer just for hobbyists—they are critical tools used in surveying, construction, environmental monitoring, and even emergency response. By offering FAA Part 107 certification and advanced drone training, we are not just teaching students how to fly drones; we are providing them with high-value skills that will make them competitive in the modern job market.”

Driving Economic Growth and Job Creation in CNMI

The introduction of drone training programs at NM Tech is expected to create new job opportunities and increase operational efficiency across multiple sectors in CNMI. Businesses, government agencies, and entrepreneurs can now leverage drone technology for faster data collection, reduced costs, and enhanced decision-making.

“We are excited to partner with 2cofly to bring cutting-edge drone training to our students and professionals,” said Jodina Attao, CEO at NM Tech. “Our goal is to provide hands-on, job-ready training that leads to real employment opportunities. With drones becoming an essential tool in various industries, this program will position CNMI at the forefront of technological advancement.”

Enrollment and Program Details

The first FAA Part 107 certification training program under this partnership is expected to launch in mid 2025, with classes held at NM Tech’s training facility in Saipan. Students will receive comprehensive training, hands-on flight experience, and preparation for the FAA Part 107 exam, enabling them to legally operate drones for commercial purposes.
